Allamakee County Alert Iowa Emergency Alert Message System

Allamakee County Alert Iowa Emergency Alert Message System

Alert Iowa is a statewide emergency alert message system Allamakee County is using to send emergency messages to its local residents.

The system allows county officials and the National Weather Service to communicate emergency information directly to county citizens via voice call, text message, and/or email.  This includes weather and non-weather-related notifications.

Weather Emergency Alert Options include Severe Thunderstorm, Tornado, Flood and Flash Flood, Winter Storm, Winter Weather, Excessive Heat, Extreme Cold and Wind Chill, and Freeze and Frost Watch and Warning alerts.

Non-Weather-Related Emergency Alert Options are associated to each city individually within the county and one for the rural portion also.  Signing up allows you to receive alert notices for just the specific locations you select.

City alert examples include emergency boil alerts, hazardous material spills, shelter-in-place, evacuation, missing person.  Rural alerts would also include emergency road closures such as may be caused by flash flooding.

Please take time to evaluate your readiness and to aid in this process we have provided online resources and links to several preparedness sites.
