Allamakee County Secondary Road Department is taking applications for an Equipment Operators/MM II who will work mainly out of the Waukon Shop operating motor graders, endloaders, dump trucks and doing road maintenance. Applicants shall possess a valid Class A or B CDL with at least 2 years experience operating and maintaining road construction equipment.  Required to live within Allamakee County within 90 days of hire for emergency call out situations.  Successful applicants subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol/physical testing.  Wage $21.69-$24.10 per hour plus benefits DOQ.

The Allamakee County Recorder’s Office is hiring a full-time clerk.  The position includes providing friendly, quality customer service in a timely and accurate manner across the front counter, on the phone, by email or written correspondence.  Duties include assisting customers with registering, titling, and renewals of recreational vehicles, as well as providing fish/game licenses.  Will also process vital record requests including birth, death and marriage licenses.  Maintain and preserve DNR records and vital records.  Assist in daily balancing and deposit preparation.  Supervise and assist genealogy researchers.  The ability to read and understand legal descriptions would be a benfit.  Applications can be picked up at the Allamakee County Recorder’s Office or found on-line at: http://www.allamakee.us/.   Completed applications can be dropped off or mailed to the Allamakee County Recorder’s Office, 110 Allamakee St, Waukon IA 52172, or emailed to kmathis@co.allamakee.ia.us by November 30, 2022.

Skills: Ideal candidate is self-starter with strong work ethic and computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to efficiently type and 10-key and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication; customer service experience; attention to details and desire for accuracy are a must; high level of organizational skills; must be able to multi-task.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Processing land division applications and splits/transfers of real estate; preparing valuation and cash balancing reports for state; processing levies, tax exemptions and credits and tax statement preparation; budget review; assisting with election administration and passport application acceptance.

Preferred knowledge/experience: Experience with real estate and reading legal descriptions; basic accounting knowledge; customer service. Minimum 2-year degree preferred but not required.

Wage/salary will be based on skills and qualifications. Some travel required for training and education opportunities.
