Welcome to the Allamakee County Assessor's Office. It is our goal to provide information to the public about the duties of the assessor and various services offered by this office. We hope that you will find our website to be beneficial and informative.

PROPERTY TAX SCAM/CLAIM ALERT:

Our office is aware of a YouTube video claiming that Congress has changed property tax rules for homeowners born in the 1940s, 50s, or 60s.  This claim is FALSE as it applies to Iowa.  Congress has not created a nationwide property tax exemption, reduction, or freeze based on the decade a homeowner was born. Iowa property tax credits and exemptions are established by Iowa state law and have specific eligibility requirements. There is no new Iowa property tax benefit simply because you were born in a particular decade.  For accurate information about Iowa property tax credits and exemptions, rely on the Iowa Department of Revenue or contact the Assessor's Office.

REPORTING PROPERTY CHANGES:

Building change forms are emailed (if we have an email on file) or mailed out each fall. You can find a copy of it here.

Online reporting can be completed here. Click on the search tab. Search by name or property address. Click on parcel ID number.
Click the chat button icon on the tool bar below the search tab. Enter your changes in the comment box, click submit and you are done!

Did you receive a postcard about completing a sales questionnaire and are wondering where to fill it out?  Please visit the Beacon website here. Search for your property by name or address and click on the sales questionnaire link under the owner name on the parcel report.
