ELECTION DAY IN-PERSON VOTING: Polls will be open 7am -9pm on Election Day

POLLING PLACES: Dorchester, New Albin, Lansing (IC Catholic Church due to more opportunity for social distancing), Harpers Ferry, Waterville, Postville (Post/Franklin AND City of Postville at Memorial Hall), Waukon Banquet Center and Waukon First Baptist Church (Waukon Wards 1, 2 and 3 combined).

ABSENTEE VOTING:

In Person: Begins October 5 through November 2 - Monday-Friday 8am-4pm; ALSO Saturday October 24 8am-5pm AND Saturday October 31 8am-5pm

     PLEASE BRING YOUR ID** and A BLUE OR BLACK INK PEN WITH YOU. Pens will be available but for COVID-19 health and safety concerns, we request you bring your own.  **ID is required to vote in-person both absentee and at the polls. For a list of acceptable IDs for voting click HERE.

By Mail: Mailing of ballots begins on October 5 for requests that have been received by then; requests received October 5 through October 24 will be                          mailed within 24 hours. 

            Last day to request a ballot be mailed to you is Saturday, October 24 at 5pm.

           RETURN MAILED ABSENTEE BALLOTS AS SOON AS YOU VOTE THE BALLOT, and NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 2 BEFORE THE POST OFFICE CLOSES.                           THIS WILL HELP ENSURE THAT YOUR BALLOT ARRIVES AT THE AUDITOR'S OFFICE ON TIME TO BE COUNTED.

***COURTHOUSE DROP BOX - There is a Courthouse Drop Box at the ouside of the South entrance to the courthouse. No-contact ballot delivery can be made here 24 hours a day/7 days a week up UNTIL 9PM on ELECTION DAY! OTHER METHODS OF RETURNING YOUR BALLOT: In addition to the Courthouse Drop Box, voters may return their ballots by US Postal Service no later than November 2 before your post office closes, By Hand to the Auditor's office up until 9pm on Election Day.

NOTICE

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 28, 2020, the Allamakee County Courthouse business hour are back to 8:00am to 4:00pm daily.

Due to COVID-19, signs with public health guidelines will be expected to be followed when in the common areas of the courthouse for social distancing requirements.  While masks are not required in the hallways, their use is recommended. Courthouse staff wish to THANK EVERYONE for their patience and your willingness to follow healthy practices while we get through this experience together!!

Making an appointment with your desired office is highly recommended!

  • Only 2 customers in the office at any one time, signage will be posted on the door
  • A customer that needs to come behind the counter for any reason will be required to put a mask on.
  • Mask will be provided if needed.
  • Passport services by Appointment Only from 9am-3pm. Call to make an appointment at 563-568-3522.
  • Items may be dropped off into the AUDITOR’S metal box on 1st floor of the courthouse or by mailing the item to Auditor’s Office, 110 Allamakee Street, Waukon, IA 52172. 
  • There is a new County Drop Box outside the South courthouse entrance that can be used for dropping off documents to any county office 24/7.

PASSPORT PAYMENT UPDATES:  AT THE REQUIREMENT OF THE NATIONAL PASSPORT AGENCY, CASH CAN NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED IN OUR OFFICE AS PAYMENT FOR APPLICATION FEES THAT MUST BE SENT IN TO THE PASSPORT AGENCY! Applicants must pay application fees by check or money order. **The $35 Acceptance fee paid to Auditor's office CAN still be cash as that money stays in the County office. Credit cards are not accepted at our acceptance facility.  Please call us at 563-568-3522 with any questions.

APRIL 2, 2018 - The Acceptance Fee (Execution Fee) to apply for a passport increased to $35.
