2026 Property Assessment Notices

The Allamakee County Assessor’s Office will mail 2026 property assessment notices to property owners on March 20, 2026. Property owners who have signed up for email delivery will receive their notice a few days earlier.

The notice provides the estimated market value of your property as of January 1, 2026. Only parcels that received a value change for 2026 will receive a notice, you may not receive a notice for all of your parcels this year.

Important:
The assessed value shown on your notice is not the same as taxable value and is not your property tax bill.

Countywide Residential Reappraisal

Allamakee County contracted with Vanguard Appraisals, Inc. of Cedar Rapids to conduct a countywide reappraisal of all dwellings and residential land.

Over the past year, Vanguard representatives:

  • Reviewed property characteristics

  • Conducted field reviews

  • Analyzed recent sales data

  • Reviewed cost and market information

This process was completed in accordance with Iowa assessment guidelines and state law to ensure values reflect current market conditions.
