Auditor Beyer and Supervisor Clark reviewed meetings held last week regarding agenda management software options. No action taken today; Beyer will contact some references for one of the vendors and return with a recommendation.

Dave Mooney presented options for Solid Waste contracts. He has talked to Richards Sanitation – they came down to $320 per pull. If the county does rural pickup ourselves, Richards will do recycling at the 3 main rural sites – Lansing, Waterville and Harpers Ferry; Richards cost for main site is $119,000; add $65,150 additional costs – total $184,150 per year for contract after the truck is purchased. About $250,000 with a FT employee with hauling charges and not including truck compared to about $315,000 for Richards to do everything. Having a garbage truck will save the county about $50-60K per year; there is immediate expense of buying the truck now with about a 4 year payback. Truck bids were reviewed. Back-up plan if truck has issues is a trailer at a cost of $25,694. Recycling will be taken to Caledonia. Life span of truck is expected to be 10 years.

26.277-Motion Keatley/Second Byrnes to approve purchase of the Ford garbage truck at $172,900 along with a trailer at $25,694 for Solid Waste and approve contract for Richards for all duties with main site at $119,000. Motion carried.

Department Head updates: Dave Mooney gave update on city use of rural solid waste site and the costs related to removal of the waste; a work session with city was discussed. Sheriff Mellick would like to reserve a parking spot for loading/unloading inmates for court; reviewed weekend incidents; would like to meet with hospital board about securing a location to hold an individual in a medical setting due to mental health. Auditor Beyer gave update on tax statement process and upcoming deadlines for election.

26.278-Motion Keatley/Second Byrnes to adjourn. Motion carried.
