Auditor

Auditor Beyer discussed the option to commit funds from the General Fund to specific future projects; also discussed the legislation that passed this year restricting property tax dollar increases to 2% of previous year property tax dollars and also the new legislative limitation of General Fund carryover to 35%. Due to the unknowns on how new legislation will affect fund balances and having two new Supervisors coming on in 2027, there will be no further discussion at this time.

Department Head updates: Engineer Ridenour talked about the middle section of the Lansing Black Hawk bridge going into place later this week; washouts and other issues from heavy rain over the weekend; other department updates. Dave Mooney, Solid Waste, reported they have more stuff than usual coming in; compactor issues; bid coming up for waste hauling contract – 3 companies interested: Richards Sanitation, Kluesner’s, Republic. Republic’s billing is not great but most of the other issues Solid Waste was having have improved. Auditor Beyer reminded Supervisors of tomorrow’s 8:00 am canvass of Primary election and next week’s BOS meeting at Postville library.

26.215-Motion Keatley/Second Byrnes to adjourn. Motion carried.
